I Tested the Top Hp Officejet Pro 8138e: My Honest Review and Buying Notes

This unit earned its high ranking purely through its exceptional cost savings relative to buying brand new equipment straight from a big-box retailer. Refurbished premium gear often carries a lingering stigma, but buyer sentiment shows that these professionally inspected machines generally perform just like new ones.

I think the choice comes down to how much you value keeping extra cash in your business account rather than paying for a pristine factory box. You still get all the heavy-duty productivity tools like automatic duplex printing and an automatic document feeder for multi-page scanning sessions.

This standard refurbished model is best suited for budget-conscious home offices that need a reliable fax and copy machine without stretching corporate expenses too thin. You sacrifice the premium grading of the previous tier, but you keep every core capability that makes the 8138e series a reliable administrative workhorse.

In my judgment, shopping the budget-tier refurbished market is a brilliant way to outfit a startup office on a shoestring. The trade-off is that you might have to accept a slightly more visible history of previous handling on the exterior chassis.

This machine includes an interesting three-month ink trial that gets you printing right out of the box, though the omission of a physical fax board is worth noting early on. Stripping away the dedicated fax hardware helps streamline the footprint for smaller desks while keeping core printing and scanning functions intact.

I would point basic home offices toward this model if faxing belongs firmly in the past for your workflow. It keeps things simple, clean, and focused entirely on wireless document handling.

The most common buyer complaint with this standard business model involves the strict internet connectivity requirements needed to finish the initial software configuration. People sometimes grow frustrated when smart printers refuse to cooperate offline, but once the setup hurdles clear, the device runs smoothly.

I believe the balanced feature set makes up for the initial software headaches, especially if you rely heavily on the automatic document feeder for processing tax forms and receipts. It provides a steady middle ground for standard administrative tasks.

Moving up from the standard 8135 model, this top pick introduces a generous one-year ink supply that fundamentally changes the long-term cost equation for active offices. Having a full twelve months of automatic supply shipments removes the constant worry of running dry in the middle of a major print job.

In my view, this is the absolute best value in the entire lineup because it neutralizes the most annoying hidden cost of inkjet ownership. You get full all-in-one capabilities, robust faxing, and a full year of hassle-free printing supplies in one box.

This variant built its reputation on an eco-conscious market angle by emphasizing energy-efficient printing and smart resource management through the HP ecosystem. Buyer feedback suggests that the green marketing mostly holds up in daily practice, provided you stick to the recommended app-based workflows.

I think this version suits environmentally minded freelancers who want modern multifunction features without a massive carbon footprint. You do give up the physical fax line found on the higher-numbered tiers, so make sure digital scanning satisfies your document sharing needs.
